Two Men Charged and Remanded in Connection with Firearms and Ammunition Cache at GNIC Wharf
Reyon Williams, a 33-year-old driver residing in Lot 133 Guyhoc Park, Georgetown, and Andrew Fraser, a 56-year-old Fiber Technician from Lot 760 Parfaite Harmonie, West Bank Demerara, with an overseas address in Lot 1582 Larkspur Trail, Conyers, Atlanta, Georgia, US, found themselves facing serious charges related to firearms and ammunition discovered in a barrel at the Guyana National Industrial Corporation (GNIC) wharf.
The arrests occurred on November 17, 2023 (Williams) and November 20, 2023 (Fraser), leading to joint charges filed on November 22, 2023. The charges include:
Trafficking in Firearm, as per Section 17(A)(3) of the Firearm Act, Chapter 16:05.
Trafficking in Ammunition, as per Section 17(A)(3) of the Firearm Act, Chapter 16:05.
Appearing at the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court #1 before Magistrate Sherdell Isaacs-Marcus, both defendants entered pleas of not guilty. However, they were remanded to prison until December 6, 2023, pending the disclosure of statements.
The charges emanate from the discovery of a substantial cache of firearms and ammunition inside a barrel at the GNIC wharf on November 17, 2023. Fraser’s name and address were identified as the sender, with the barrel addressed to Williams at his Guyhoc Park, Georgetown residence.
The firearms recovered from the barrel include a G2 Taurus 9mm pistol without a serial number, a G3 Taurus 9mm pistol with the serial number ADH 549002, a Glock 23 pistol with the serial number BVLC 388, a Glock 40 with the serial number BELW 511, a Roebuck Quad lock 9mm pistol without a serial number, a Glock 19 with the serial number CBFX 596, a G3 Taurus pistol with the serial number ADH 547678, a Luger 9mm pistol without a serial number, and an RF-15 Rifle with the serial number 23065794.
