In an early morning operation, 72-year-old pensioner Collymore Scipio, known as ‘David, ‘ hailing from Stanleytown, West Bank Demerara, found himself in police custody after authorities discovered him in possession of 23 grams of cocaine. The arrest transpired today (Friday) at approximately 08:20 hrs in the vicinity of the Police Outpost at Vreed-en-Hoop, West Coast Demerara.

Acting on received information, police ranks approached Scipio, who was carrying a bulky black plastic bag in his right hand. Upon inspection, one of the officers discovered four pieces of whitish, rock-like substances suspected to be cocaine inside the bag.

Following the discovery, Scipio was promptly arrested and escorted to the Parfaite Harmonie Police Station, accompanied by the suspected cocaine. The illicit substance, upon weighing, amounted to 23 grams.

Scipio now awaits further investigation while in police custody, and he is slated to face charges related to the possession of the illegal substance. The arrest highlights the vigilance of law enforcement in addressing drug-related activities, even when involving individuals of advanced age.
