Sales Clerk Pleads Guilty to Larceny Charge, Offers Compensation to Victim

In a recent legal development, Afezza Abrams, a 20-year-old Sales Clerk from Kuru Kuru, Soesdyke-Linden Highway, faced charges of ‘Larceny by Clerk, ‘ as stipulated in Section 89 of the Summary Jurisdiction Offences Act, Chapter 8:02.
Abrams was accused of committing this offense against Mahendra Jettoo at Block X Coverden, East Bank Demerara. She was promptly arrested on Tuesday and subsequently charged.
Appearing at the Diamond/Golden Grove Magistrate’s Court #2 before Magistrate Judy Latchman, the charge was read to Abrams. In a significant turn of events, she pleaded guilty to the charge and, acknowledging her actions, offered to compensate the victim.
As the legal proceedings unfolded, the court placed Abrams on self-bail, indicating that the matter would be adjourned until October 31, 2023, with the intent to reach a settlement.
