In preparation for the upcoming holiday season, Assistant Commissioner Mahendra Siwnarine, the Commander of Region Police Division #3, announced the launch of robust Christmas policing plans. The initiative aims to heighten police presence and operations across the region, focusing on traffic management and crime mitigation.

Commander Siwnarine presented the plan at the Leonora Police Station’s Recreational Hall, emphasizing the goal of providing “a safe and tranquil environment for residents, visitors (local and foreign), commuters, shoppers, and businesses” throughout the region.
Collaboration with corporate partners and residents will play a crucial role in effective policing, particularly during the holiday period, according to Commander Siwnarine. The Division’s crime prevention strategies include special patrols in housing areas, traffic checkpoints on the Main Highway, and specific arrangements for Christmas Eve and New Year’s Day to alleviate traffic congestion at key locations.
The plan also highlights focused attention on various markets and the strategic placement of police-manned booths in key areas across the Region. Commander Siwnarine underscored the responsibility of citizens and business owners to ensure their safety during this period, offering safety tips for both businesses and shoppers.
