Police team interacts with residents of Hururu Mission, Aroaima

News Update

Commander Regional Division #10, Superintendent Guy Nurse, led his Police Admin Team on a Community Outreach in the Hururu Mission, Aroaima, Upper Berbice River, yesterday (Thursday), where they interacted with about forty (40) residents.

The residents welcomed the outreach and expressed their willingness to collaborate with the Police to mitigate crimes and promote social development for the entire community.

Many residents also voiced their issues/concerns about transportation for children from Aroaima to Kwakwani to attend Secondary School and the high rate of school dropouts in the area. The residents were sensitized about the Guyana Police Force’s Strategic Pillars for 2022–2026, which is a community-oriented initiative to strengthen the relationship between the Police and members of the public.

Commander Guy Nurse also encouraged the residents to have their children enrolled at the Kwakwani Police Station’s Zara Computer Center and benefit from the free computer courses being offered. He urged residents to be more security conscious and look out for the younger ones to let them know the difference between right and wrong and keep them from going close to the river unattended.

Commander Nurse assured residents that there would be frequent Police presence in the area and that they needed to continue having a good working relationship so that building capacity in the community can be a collaborative effort in keeping their community safe.
