Police Spelling Bee Competition Sparks Educational Enthusiasm in Bartica

In a remarkable collaborative effort between Regional Police Division #7 and the Regional Education Department, a Spelling Bee Competition was organized for schools within the township of Bartica. The event, which took place yesterday, witnessed enthusiastic participation from Three (3) Miles and Bartica Secondary schools, and it was hosted at the Bartica Community Center Ground.
The event was thoughtfully chaired by Stefon Das, the Special Needs Education Officer, while the esteemed Judges, Timekeeper, and Bee Master all represented the Education Department. Ms. Lesley Lovell thoughtfully explained the competition’s rules to the participants and also took on the role of Bee Master.
In his brief remarks, Commander Moore extended heartfelt congratulations to the participants and encouraged them to continue taking strides in their educational journey. He particularly noted the increasing participation of female students, applauding it as a positive step towards fostering female leadership. Commander Moore emphasized that events of this nature promote greater cohesion among residents and law enforcement personnel, especially the youth.
The competition was structured into three segments, each consisting of three rounds. The results of the Spelling Bee Competition are as follows:
1st Place – Roshana Holder from 3 Miles Secondary
2nd Place – Sennda Hernandez from 3 Miles Secondary School
3rd Place – Nandanie Persaud from Bartica Secondary School
4th Place – Hubert Cummings from 3 Miles Secondary School
The first-place winner was awarded a bicycle, a trophy, and a portable tablet, while the 2nd and 3rd place winners each received a portable tablet and a trophy. The 4th place contestant was presented with a trophy. Congratulations to all the winners and participants for their outstanding efforts!
