Police Investigating Brawl Outside Leonora Betting Outlet
Authorities are currently investigating a public brawl that occurred outside a betting outlet in Leonora, West Coast Demerara, on January 24, 2025.
According to police reports, the incident began when 23-year-old driver Javier Kubair attempted to make a purchase ahead of others in line, leading to a confrontation with 24-year-old JFazal Jabbar and 42-year-old Donia Alleyne.
Following the altercation, Kubair left the scene but soon returned armed with a cutlass, reportedly threatening and attacking customers. In response, several customers armed themselves with rocks and pieces of wood, throwing them at Kubair, who then retreated into the District Sports Bar for safety.
The police were summoned, and ranks from the Anti-Crime Patrol responded promptly. Kubair, along with several others involved, were escorted to the Leonora Police Station, where reports and statements were documented.
