Narcotics Seized: Parika Resident Apprehended

A 46-year-old laborer residing in Parika, East Bank Essequibo, was taken into custody following his apprehension yesterday for the alleged possession of approximately 49 grams of suspected cannabis.The arrest transpired on Saturday at approximately 1:40 PM when law enforcement personnel acted upon received intelligence.

They proceeded to Parika Access Road, near the Forestry Office, where they encountered the 46-year-old individual.After conducting a thorough search, the authorities discovered a sizeable black plastic bag concealed within his left-side pants pocket.

Upon inspection, the bag was revealed to contain an assortment of leaves, seeds, and stems suspected to be cannabis.

The suspect was duly informed of the nature of the offense he was being accused of. Subsequently, he was cautioned, detained, and transported to the Parika Police Station, accompanied by the seized substance.

Once the substance was weighed, it was established to weigh approximately 49 grams.The individual has been placed under custody as legal proceedings are anticipated.
