Joint Services Conduct Early Morning Operation and Uncover Contraband at New Amsterdam Prison

In a targeted operation conducted earlier this morning between 06:00hrs and 08:00hrs, Joint Services ranks executed a comprehensive search at the New Amsterdam Prison in Berbice. The operation focused on inspecting both male and female dormitories within the facility.

During the thorough search, law enforcement officials made significant discoveries, uncovering contraband items within the prison premises. The following articles were seized as a result of the operation:
Five (5) Cellphones
Ten (10) Lighters
Two (2) Improvised Weapons
Three Cellular Phone Batteries
137 grams of suspected narcotics (Cannabis)
Upon confiscation, the items were promptly secured and transported to the Central Police Station for further investigation. The operation reflects the ongoing efforts of Joint Services to maintain security and control within correctional facilities, preventing the infiltration of unauthorized items that could compromise safety and order.
