Government to Relocate 15 Tombs at Grove, EBD for Pump Station Construction

The Ministry of Health has announced plans to relocate 15 tombs at the Golden Grove Burial Ground, located at Lot 1 Grove, East Bank Demerara (EBD), to facilitate the construction of pump stations aimed at enhancing drainage

capacity in the Diamond/Grove area.

In a public notice issued on Friday, the Ministry explained that the relocation is necessary due to the current positions of the tombs and structural damage identified during inspections. The tombs are situated in the southwestern section of the burial ground.

Relatives and family members of those interred in the affected areas are encouraged to contact the Grove/Diamond Neighbourhood Democratic Council (NDC) for further details. They should provide relevant information regarding the deceased to ensure a smooth and respectful relocation process.
