Police officers from Regional Division #5 conducted a community walkabout between Dundee and Novar Village in Mahaicony, East Coast Demerara. The initiative aimed to raise awareness among residents and business owners about potential crimes during the upcoming Christmas season, offering crime prevention tips for enhanced safety.

During the outreach, officers emphasized the importance of vigilance among business owners and cautioned against accepting counterfeit notes. Bar owners received specific advice, including refraining from serving alcohol to highly intoxicated individuals and encouraging patrons to park responsibly.
The police team, which included Detective Woman Constable Charles, Woman Constable Punch, Woman Sergeant Williams, Woman Sergeant Nedd, and Sergeant Holder, also addressed issues brought up by locals. These concerns ranged from noise nuisance and gaming in business places to issues related to individuals with mental health challenges loitering at establishments, begging for money, and becoming abusive.
The interaction provided an opportunity for the community to voice its concerns, with Woman Inspector David and her team addressing and resolving the raised issues, fostering a collaborative approach to community safety.
