Assault Incident Unfolds: Man Allegedly Beaten by Ex-Father-in-Law in Supermarket Confrontation”

When his ex-father-in-law Mahesh Roop allegedly assaulted Vikash Narine of Colidgen, East Coast Demerara (ECD), at the Naresh Supermarket in Grove, East Bank Demerara (EBD), on Sunday at 15:00, he found himself in a distressing situation.
According to reports, Roop, a resident of Diamond Housing Scheme, EBD, approached Narine at the supermarket and proceeded to physically assault him. The victim reportedly endured several lashes about his body with a cutlass, resulting in a laceration to his right elbow. In addition to the physical altercation, Roop accused Narine of stealing $500,000 Guyana currency from him.
Narine promptly reported the incident to the police because it disturbed her. Law enforcement officers contacted Roop, apprised him of the allegations, and subsequently arrested and placed him in custody. The entire confrontation was captured on nearby CCTV cameras, providing additional evidence for the ongoing investigation.
