Armed Motorcycle Thieves Target Chinese-Owned Supermarket in Lusignan

An alleged armed robbery occurred at approximately 7:34 PM last night (Tuesday), involving two cashiers at the Hong Yuang Supermarket situated in Lusignan, on the East Coast of Demerara.

The victims, identified as Xie Zie Ying (50 years old) and Xie Zi Xia (46 years old), both female cashiers, were subjected to the robbery.

The assailants made off with an unspecified quantity of GTT and Digicel phone cards and an undisclosed sum of money.

According to investigations, a group of four suspects who arrived at the supermarket riding two red and black XR motorcycles carried out the robbery. Upon arrival, the suspects parked the motorcycles in front of the supermarket. Subsequently, two of the assailants swiftly entered the premises, brandishing firearms and targeting both cashiers.

The perpetrators then proceeded to access the cash register and acquire the aforementioned items. Following the robbery, the suspects hastily retreated to their motorcycles and fled in a southern direction along Lusignan Access Road. Law enforcement efforts are ongoing to uncover more details about the incident.
