Fatal Accident Claims the Life of 78-Year-Old Pedestrian on Soesdyke-Linden Highway

Authorities are currently investigating Fatal Accident that unfolded around 18:30 hrs on the Adventure Public Road, Soesdyke Linden Highway, resulting in the untimely death of 78-year-old pedestrian Frank London.

The accident involved a white Toyota 212, bearing license plate PXX 1989, owned and driven by 28-year-old Daniel James from Mackenzie. The pedestrian, Frank London, hailed from Adventure Village, Soesdyke Linden Highway.

Fatal Accident

According to preliminary inquiries, the car was heading north along the western side of the road when the driver claimed to have spotted a man sitting in his lane. Attempting to avoid a collision, the driver swerved to the east, but due to the limited distance, the front left portion of the vehicle collided with the pedestrian.

The collision resulted in damage to the vehicle, and the pedestrian sustained injuries. Good Samaritans found him unconscious, loaded him into a passing vehicle, and transported him to Mackenzie Public Hospital. Despite medical efforts, he was pronounced dead by attending doctors.

The body is currently in storage, awaiting a post-mortem examination. The damaged motorcar was towed to the Highway Patrol Base for examination by a licensing and certifying officer. A breathalyzer test on the driver showed no trace of alcohol. The driver is in custody, cooperating with the ongoing investigation.
