21-Year-Old Pleads Guilty to Drug Possession, Referred to Drug Rehab Program

In a recent legal proceeding, Jamal Khan, a 21-year-old resident of Jango Town, Mon Repos, East Coast Demerara, faced charges related to drug possession. He was arrested on Wednesday and charged with two counts of Possession of Narcotics, as defined in section 4(1)(a)(I) of the Narcotic Drug and Psychotropic Substance (Control) Act, Chapter 10:10.
Khan’s appearance took place at the Sparendaam Magistrate Court #1 before Magistrate Liverpool, where the charges were formally read to him. In a significant turn of events, Khan pleaded guilty to the charges and, recognizing the need for intervention, he was referred to a ‘drug rehab program’ for treatment.
