In celebration of World Artist Day, observed on Wednesday, renowned Guyanese artist Compton Babb, known for his “Gold Encounter, ” presented a remarkable 5’X4′ portrait to businessman Mr. Mohamed.
Mr. Babb, who began his professional journey in oil painting in 2017, personally handed over the detailed masterpiece to the businessman at his Houston property on Tuesday evening. This artistic endeavor required at least 12 weeks of tireless effort and a remarkable 1600 hours of uninterrupted concentration.
The portrait holds special significance as it was created to show appreciation to Mr. Mohamed for his significant contributions to the Guyanese community over the years. Compton Babb aptly titled the piece, “A Soul Within a Soul. ” The artwork masterfully portrays the businessman’s humility, hospitality, and his warm affection for people from all walks of life.
Compton Babb expressed his gratitude to Mr. Mohamed for his courtesy in allowing him and his team access to his private space. He also acknowledged the essential contributions of James Bond and Gypsy Persaud in making this project possible.
