President Ali, U.S. Delegation Discuss Boosting Guyana’s Agricultural Sector

News Update

President Dr. Irfaan Ali recently met with U.S. Ambassador Nicole Theriot and a visiting delegation from Blumberg Grain to advance discussions on modernising Guyana’s agricultural systems. Several senior government officials were also present at the meeting.

The talks follow the July 2025 agreement between the Ministry of Agriculture and Blumberg Grain, which focuses on transforming Guyana’s agriculture sector and positioning the country as a regional leader in food security for both the Caribbean and South America.

During the engagement, officials highlighted the importance of U.S. technological expertise in supporting Guyana’s long-term agricultural development. The partnership aims to increase productivity, strengthen supply chain management, and improve national food security efforts.

The United States has long supported agricultural initiatives in Guyana, and this collaboration aligns with broader regional strategies to promote sustainable development and greater food resilience across the hemisphere.
