Tragic Incident on Harlem Public Road Claims Life of 73-Year-Old Electric Cycle Rider

Harlem Public Road, West Coast Demerara, witnessed a devastating accident at approximately 18:20 hrs yesterday, resulting in the untimely passing of 73-year-old Abdool Mohamed, a resident of Lot 5 Harlem, WCD.

The incident involved a motor car bearing the registration PAE 4134, driven by a 26-year-old resident from Belle West, Canal #2, WBD. Abdool Mohamed was on his Electric Cycle when the collision occurred.

According to initial reports, the car was traveling westward along the southern side of the road when the driver claimed that the cyclist abruptly crossed from the north to the south side. Tragically, the left front section of the car collided with the left center part of the Electric Cycle.

The impact sent the 73-year-old cyclist tumbling onto the road, resulting in significant injuries. He was swiftly attended to and transported to the West Demerara Regional Hospital, where a doctor, upon examination, declared him deceased upon arrival.

The driver of the car was taken into custody, subjected to a breath alcohol test, which yielded no evidence of alcohol consumption.

Currently, the late Abdool Mohamed’s remains rest at the Ezekiel Funeral Home, awaiting a post-mortem examination.

The authorities are actively conducting investigations into this heart-wrenching incident.
