CHARITY RESIDENTS SET TO BENEFIT FROM FREE ICT TRAINING

Residents of the Region Two community of Charity, Essequibo Coast, can now access free and accredited ICT training programs made possible through the expanding partnership between the Guyana Police Force (GPF) and the Jay and Sylvia Sobhraj Foundation. Persons in the community will be able to access these programmes at the GPF Academy Zara Computer Centre Charity Campus, which was commissioned this morning in a simple but significant ceremony.

Located in the Charity Police Station’s Compound, the state-of-the-art Centre is fully equipped with thirty (30) computer systems and will be accessible to all members of the community. Among those at the commissioning of the Charity Zara Computer Lab were the President of the Jay and Sylvia Sobhraj Foundation, Dr Jay Sobhraj and his wife, Ms Sylvia Sobhraj and IT Consultant Mr Naresh Singh, along with Regional Commander, Superintendent Khemraj Shivbarran and Coordinator of the Zara Computer Centres, Assistant Superintendent Gladwin Hanover.

Commander Shivbarran, in brief remarks, noted that the centre’s establishment “will serve as a much-needed tool in bridging the gaps between the community and police, especially the youths”.The Commander, on behalf of the Commissioner of Police and his Admin team, thanked the donors from the Jay and Sylvia Sobhraj Foundation, through whose commitment and unwavering support and partnership with the Guyana Police Force continues to give back to the communities throughout Guyana.
