In a targeted operation today (Thursday, August 31), law enforcement apprehended three men at a residence in Friendship, East Bank Demerara, subsequently seizing approximately 450 grams of suspected Cannabis.
Acting on credible intelligence, a team of Police officers led by a Corporal converged on a dwelling situated along Friendship Public Road, EBD. Upon arrival, the officers encountered 56-year-old Richard Charles, who identified himself as the proprietor of the house.
After explaining the purpose of their presence, the officers requested permission to carry out a search of the premises. Mr. Charles consented and facilitated their entry into the residence for the search.
Inside the residence, the officers discovered two additional individuals: John D’Ornellas, a 28-year-old vendor residing in Block X Diamond Housing Scheme, EBD, and Jerome Bernard, a 42-year-old laborer from C Field, South Sophia.
While scouring the premises, the officers uncovered a conspicuously-sized transparent package containing leaves, seeds, and stems that raised suspicion of being Cannabis. This package was discovered beneath a bed in a bedroom.
The three men were duly informed of the allegations and cautioned. During this process, the 56-year-old homeowner claimed that the 28-year-old and 42-year-old individuals occupied the room in question.
Subsequent to their apprehension, the three men were escorted to the Diamond Police Station. A subsequent weigh-in of the seized substance confirmed its weight as approximately 450 grams, strengthening the suspicion that it is indeed Cannabis.
