On August 30, 2023, the Carnegie School of Home Economics (CSHE) proudly concludes two decentralized vocational training programs in Regions Nine and Ten, demonstrating their commitment to skills development and community engagement.
In Region Nine, a group of 15 participants successfully completed a comprehensive 20-hour Elementary Cookery training session held at the Bina Hill Institute from August 24 to 26, 2023. Similarly, Region Ten witnessed another fruitful endeavor, with 15 participants graduating from the “Cooking with Kids” program. This particular initiative, conducted between August 15 and 25, 2023, was sponsored by EDO Offshore and took place at the Mackenzie High School.

Notably, these vocational training programs marked a significant departure for the institution, representing the first time that CSHE has extended its offerings to decentralized locations during the July-August vacation period.
Ms. Sharmaine Marshall, Principal of the Carnegie School of Home Economics, expressed satisfaction with the outcomes of both training programs. She underscored the institution’s unwavering dedication to equipping graduates with the essential tools to excel as influential contributors within diverse local, national, and global communities.
As CSHE advances its decentralization efforts, the institution is committed to enhancing skills development methodologies to better prepare the future workforce. Recognizing the effectiveness of competency-based training within the framework of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET), CSHE ensures that its training initiatives remain pertinent and valuable in the ever-evolving labor market landscape.

Emphasizing the importance of translating these continuous training competencies into actionable skills, CSHE aims to bridge the gap between learning outcomes and job responsibilities, ensuring that skills are both acknowledged and valued.
Anticipating continued success, these programs are slated to continue in the coming year, sustaining the momentum of empowerment and education.
