Bishop Patrick Findlay, the Chairman of Police Service Commission, along with PSC Secretary Mr. Jaigobin Jaisingh, conducted a visit to Regional Police Division #10 on Tuesday, August 29th, 2023. Their visit included an engagement with the Station Sergeants, Inspectors, and Officers at the Mackenzie Police Station.
During this visit, Bishop Findlay engaged in a constructive dialogue with the ranks, covering a range of important topics, including:
Importance of Transformational Leadership: Emphasizing the significance of effective leadership approaches.
Roles and Responsibilities of the Police Service Commission: Outlining the Commission’s functions and duties.
Police Professionalism: Addressing the standards of professionalism expected within the police force.
Combatting Corrupt Practices: Urging officers to refrain from soliciting money from individuals, promoting ethical conduct.




Criteria for Promotion: Discussing the benchmarks and qualifications for advancement.
Acting Appointments for Inspectors and Officers: Highlighting considerations for temporary appointments.
Situational Awareness: Stressing the importance of being aware of their surroundings.
Mr. Jaisingh delivered an informative PowerPoint presentation on the Theory of Transformational Leadership, specifically tailored for the Station Sergeants and Officers.
Bishop Findlay expressed admiration for the Guyana Police Force’s commitment to providing educational opportunities in the form of scholarships to personnel across all ranks. He underscored the value of aligning personal aspirations with upward mobility.
Commander G. Nurse contributed substantively to the discussion, aligning his viewpoints with those of the Chairman. He also put forth several recommendations aimed at enhancing the well-being and career progression of the personnel.
In his closing statements, Bishop Findlay encouraged all present ranks to exercise thoughtfulness in their actions, maintain awareness of their environment, and most importantly, adhere to the mandates of the Guyana Police Force while following Standard Operating Procedures.
Among the attendees were Deputy Commander of Division #10, Deputy Superintendent A. Austin, Assistant Superintendent Bacon, Head of Crime Division #10, Assistant Superintendent on Probation P. Holder, Officer in Charge of Sub Division #3, Region #10, as well as four (4) Inspectors, six (6) Sergeants, and six (6) Corporals.
