Linden Police are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the presumed drowning of a 13-year-old boy at Coomaka Mines Beach in Region #10.
The victim, identified as 13-year-old Hassini Mack from Wisroc New Housing Scheme, reportedly encountered the tragic incident on Tuesday, August 29, around 4:30 PM during an outing with a group of individuals.

Regrettably, the body of the young victim has not yet been located. Initial inquiries revealed that at approximately 2:00 PM on the same day, Hassini embarked on a swimming trip accompanied by a 29-year-old Canadian national, the Canadian’s 25-year-old American wife (both residents of Kara Kara, Mackenzie, Linden), and four other juveniles.
Upon reaching Coomaka Mines beach, Hassini, along with the other children and the 29-year-old Canadian national, entered the water to partake in recreational activities. However, around 4:30 PM, tragedy struck. Hassini, alongside a 14-year-old companion from Wismar, Linden, went to wash off near the riverbank. As they ventured towards the river’s central area, the water unexpectedly surged at a rapid pace, causing Hassini to be pulled under.
Amid their cries for help, the 29-year-old Canadian swiftly came to their aid, managing to rescue the 14-year-old companion. Despite his courageous attempts, he was unable to save Hassini, as the boy had already submerged and disappeared beneath the water’s surface.
With the assistance of concerned members of the public, the 29-year-old individual conducted thorough searches for Hassini, but their efforts proved fruitless.
An ongoing investigation is being conducted to shed light on the unfortunate incident.
