Minibus driver from Lethem remanded to prison on drug possession charge.

Allan Stephen, a 30-year-old Driver of Lot 329 Tabatinga Lethem, was arrested on 2023-08-13 by a rank from Grove Police Station and charged today (2023-08-17) for the offence of Possession of Narcotics for the Purpose of Trafficking, Contrary to Section 5(1)(a)(i) of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substance (Control) Act, Chapter 10:10 of the Laws of Guyana. The accused appeared at the Diamond/Golden Grove Magistrate’s Court #2 before Principal Magistrate Judy Latchman, who read the charge to him. He pleaded not guilty and was remanded to prison. The matter was adjourned to 13th September 2023 for disclosure. Stephen was nabbed during an intelligence-led Police operation on Grove public road, East Bank Demerara, on 2023-08-13. The ranks found 4000 grams of suspected Cannabis in a container and spare wheel of a Route 94 minibus.
