On the morning of Sunday, August 27, 2023, spanning from 08:00 to 12:30 hours, Inspector Chunia, Sergeant Roberts, and Corporal Mc Garrell, representing the Traffic Department of La Grange Police Station, undertook a visit to the families of the four unfortunate souls who met their demise in a tragic accident earlier in the day. The heart-wrenching incident occurred along Resource Public Road in Canal #2 Polder, West Bank Demerara.
This gesture of solidarity was dedicated to conveying profound sympathies and offering unwavering support during this time of profound grief and sorrow. The officers, with genuine empathy, shared in the family’s anguish, acknowledging the profound impact of the accident. Reassurances were given that the Police stand ready to provide assistance throughout this trying period.
In the early hours of this day, at approximately 01:30 hours, the lives of four young individuals were tragically cut short on Resource Public Road in Canal #2 Polder, West Bank Demerara. These young souls have been identified as follows:




- Daveanand Singh, a 17-year-old, serving as the driver of the involved car, hailing from Lot 1566 Providence, EBD.
- Ameisha Jaikarran, aged 19, a resident of La Grange Old Road, WBD.
- Deviane Narine, 18 years old, a resident of Kitty, Georgetown.
- Daniel Tribani, a 19-year-old from La Grange, WBD.
The accident entailed motorcar PAE 5773, registered to Marvis Bankay Singh and operated at the time by the 17-year-old driver, Daveanand Singh, both sharing an address at Lot 1566 Providence, East Bank Demerara. The incident also involved Motor Lorry GTT 6960, owned and positioned by Eric Tucker, 27 years old, residing at 24-25 Resource, Canal #2 Polder, West Bank Demerara.
Preliminary investigations unveiled that the motorcar was traveling eastward along the northern section of the access road at an elevated speed. Unfortunately, the 17-year-old driver lost control of the vehicle, leading to a collision with the rear portion of the parked motor lorry, which was positioned on the northern parapet facing East. Subsequently, the motorcar collided with a concrete fence positioned north of the public road.



The tragic outcome saw two of the occupants pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver and another occupant were rushed to West Demerara Regional Hospital in an unconscious state. Regrettably, both individuals passed away while receiving medical attention.
