19 RANKS COMPLETE GDF BASIC ARMSTOREMAN COURSE

News Update

Nineteen ranks, including two members of the Guyana Police Force (GPF) and the Guyana Prison Service (GPS), have completed training on the GDF Basic Armstoreman Course 2023-01. The course officially concluded following a ceremony on August 18, 2023.

The three-month course aimed to prepare the ranks with the requisite knowledge necessary for the maintenance and accountability of all arms, with provision for proper security arrangements within their units’ arm stores without supervision in accordance with their respective organizations’ Security Standing Orders.

To this end, the ranks were exposed to materials, demonstrations, and practical exercises covering Standing Orders, storekeeping, Armstore Records, and Practical storekeeping.

The Commanding Officer of the Five Service Support Battalion (5SSB), Lieutenant Colonel Greasel Hinckson, during brief remarks, congratulated the Staff and Ranks on the successful conduct of the course. She stressed the importance of preparedness and responsibility, telling the Ranks that much is expected of them. “Even though you are an armstoreman and won’t be sent to the forefront of any activity, you must still be prepared. This can be achieved by being punctual, exercising accountability, keeping excellent records keeping, safety, and security,” she charged.
