Legal Documents Delivered to Melly Mel’s Brooklyn Address – Melly Mel refutes being Served.

News Update

Attorney General Anil Nandlall, SC, has instituted legal proceedings against social media activist Melissa Ann Atwell, known as Melly Mel. His lawyer, Dharshan Ramdhani, KC, confirmed that the relevant legal documents were successfully delivered to Atwell’s Brooklyn, New York address.

Nandlall is suing Atwell over alleged libelous posts made on her popular Facebook page. He claims that these posts have severely impacted his reputation, insinuating that he is unfit to serve as Attorney General, Member of Parliament, and a member of the local bar.

Despite the delivery of legal documents, Atwell recently stated on social media that she was still waiting to be served. She quoted “Who or what is a D. Thompson that received these documents cause it wasn’t me. Mohabir Anil Nandlall SC MP so you serve legal documents to someone that wasn’t me”

However, Ramdhani clarified that a court order was granted on December 17, 2024, by Justice Nicola Pierre, allowing for substituted service. This order permitted Nandlall to send the documents via pre-paid courier to Atwell’s Brooklyn address.

According to Ramdhani, the package was sent via FedEx and was confirmed delivered at 6:43 PM on December 20, 2024. The delivery was signed for by a D. Thompson at Atwell’s apartment.

Ramdhani noted that Atwell had previously indicated in a live video that she would acknowledge receipt of the documents if they were served at her apartment.

The court will now be informed through affidavit evidence that service has been properly executed in accordance with its order, allowing the legal matter to proceed. Atwell, however, has since refuted claims of receiving any documents.
