In a significant move to bolster employment opportunities in the oil and gas sector, His Excellency President Dr. Irfaan Ali has unveiled a plan to provide training for 2000 individuals, aiming to enhance their skills for nearshore employment.

President Ali made this announcement during the keynote address at the Guyana Oil and Gas Energy Chamber Annual Induction and Award Ceremony held at the Pegasus Hotel. The initiative is geared towards creating more avenues for Guyanese workers, fostering skill development, and ultimately providing better incentives and benefits.
The President emphasized the government’s commitment to collaborating with top-notch training institutions to ensure that Guyanese citizens acquire the necessary knowledge and skills for various roles within the oil and gas industry. The objective is to empower local talent and contribute to the sustainable growth of the sector.

Furthermore, President Ali stressed the importance of fostering greater partnerships within the business community, attracting increased investments, and creating more opportunities for women and youths to assume leadership roles.
