Traffic Department Reports 2,161 Cases in a Week, Emphasizes Road Safety Measures

In a concerted effort to enhance road safety, the Traffic Department, spanning all Regional Police Divisions, achieved a significant milestone with the recording of two thousand one hundred and sixty-one traffic cases in the past week. The enforcement included the issuance of seven hundred and eighteen tickets for speeding violations and twenty-eight (28) for driving under the influence .

Regional Division 4’C’ emerged as the leader in traffic cases, contributing five hundred and forty-three cases, with the highest single-day record of 128 cases noted on Monday, November 13th.
To complement these enforcement measures, the Traffic Department undertook various educational initiatives, including fifteen ‘Lecture to Schools, ‘ seven lectures for drivers, and five sensitization sessions at bars and restaurants. Additionally, daily radio messages, bi-weekly live programs on the National Communications Network (NCN), and the daily provision of safety tips via various media outlets, such as HJ, Radio Eve Leary, and others, were conducted to inform the public about responsible road usage.
As part of ongoing awareness campaigns, bumper stickers were distributed, coinciding with the observance of World Day of Remembrance on November 19th. The overarching goal of these initiatives is to foster a safer roadway for all, emphasizing that road safety is not merely a slogan but a way of life. The public is urged to respect the road and contribute to the collective effort to create a secure and considerate road environment. The Traffic Department remains committed to its mission, ensuring that road safety becomes ingrained in the daily habits of all road users.
